ABOUT US

Our mission is to elevate underrepresented voices, ensuring that their diverse narratives take center stage, by empowering them to share their stories boldly, proudly, and without reservation.

Ultimately, we envision a world where diverse narratives boldly claim the spotlight — vividly seen, deeply heard, and fully embraced in every story that shapes our world.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Karrin Thompson is a creative visionary and storyteller from Washington, DC. Guided and inspired by literary greats and activists like James Baldwin, Malcolm X, W.E.B Dubois, and Toni Morrison, she has a deep passion for reading and improving access to Black and Brown stories. She has worked in the education and literacy nonprofit sector for 5+ years, elevating diverse narratives through storytelling and fundraising.

For nonprofits, she has digitally fundraised over $100,000 on behalf of literacy organizations serving communities in Washington, DC, Honduras, Guatemala, and Uganda. For her community, she has professionally curated book collections and is an avid contributor to the Bookstagram community through her reviews of diverse young adult and adult fiction.

She created Book’d By Design with the hope of addressing a problem — diverse narratives are consistently denied the opportunity to take center stage. From storytelling and design to development consulting, Book’d By Design elevates the diverse narratives of nonprofits, small businesses, and storytellers alike who strive to be the main character and expand their reach
